Concealer Critic: NYX Concealer in a Jar in Orange and Beige Review - My secret to covering very dark under eye circles! (Orange corrector for dark under eye circles)

Hey guys!
I'm going to be doing another Concealer Critic review, if you haven't done so yet - check out the last review on the Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller in Medium/Deep . I have tried many, many concealers and this series involves in depth reviews on them.

I am going to be talking about the NYX Concealer in a Jar in Orange and Beige - these are my secret to counteracting my terrible, terrible dark circles and these concealers are AMAZING. I mentioned these in my July Favorites briefly. Lets get into the review :)

FOR REFERENCE:
I am a MAC NC 40 in the winter NC 42 in the Summer
Revlon Photo Ready in Toast
Maybelline 24 Hr Superstay In True Beige
Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Medium Beige
My undertone is yellow and my dark circles are a dark purple shade

NYX Concealer in a Jar in Orange and Beige 7g/0.25 oz

SHADES: The shade selection is awesome. There is a range of light to dark shades as well as correctors. Here is a picture of the shade selection, I got this off the page of the seller that I bought this from (I will get into that later :)
What I love about the shades is that it caters toward both light skin tones and darker ladies. Also, the issue I have with a lot of concealers is that they can be too pink. And for girls with a pink undertone, some concealers can be too yellow for them. These concealers don't have too much of a pink or yellow undertone so it can work for either - this is rare to find.

How does orange correct dark under-eye circles?

The shade I got was Beige and the second shade I got was orange. Why? To correct my dark circles. I didn't believe in colour correcting until I tried this. I have not tried the green/yellow/lavendar correctors which I believe are for pimples etc. Before purchasing this I did some research into this.

The picture to the right is the colour wheel. In order to counter act a colour or correct it, you must use the colour opposite to it. My under eyes are a terrible blue/purple tone so across the wheel is the orange corrector. The same applies to green correcting redness etc. This trick really does work! Its amazing - if you don't believe me check out some YouTube videos. Now, I know this works better for medium-dark ladies, I don't know how it turns out on fairer skin tones so let me know if you try it.

PRICE: $4-8 Depending on where you buy it - I will talk about where I got mine later

THE GOOD:
-The richest, creamiest most moisturising concealer I have ever tried!
-Comes with a lot of product
-Packing is plastic but thick and sturdy - but not bulky like a glass jar so easy for travel
-Medium-full coverage
-Looks flawless and natural
-Blends very easily
-Wide range of shades
-Affordable
-Long-wearing , does not sink into my fine  lines and look cakey by the end of the day

THE BAD:
-There isn't much bad!
-I have dry skin, so I'm not sure how this would perform on oily skin - however it doesn't stay thick and creamy, once you blend it, it dries to a silky semi-matte finish but not overly drying. You will have to set it with powder if you have oily skin
-NYX is not available in all countries  (I have a solution to this though!)

Swatches:

Swatch Test:
So I wanted to show you guys that the colour correcting does work. I will apply the orange corrector on my dark circles and let it sit for a couple minutes and then put on the Beige concealer and it looks flawless!

-I applied some eyeliner first.
-Next, I put the orange corrector. Look at that coverage, no black is peaking thorugh!
-Lastly, I added the Beige concealer and took this picture with flash to show the flawless finish with no strange undercast

CLAIMS: Our Concealer Jars are back and ready to hide the villains of dark circles and blemishes stronger than ever! We supply concealers in all shades with an improved formula providing long-lasting full coverage. A moisture-rich, emollient formula designed to conceal discoloration, dark circles and blemishes. Applied with a brush, the concentrated concealer goes on like a dream.

-->This definitely hides my dark circles. The shade selection is awesome and the coverage is long lasting and does not look cakey at the end of the day. Very moisture rich and can conceal all your problems. This totally goes on a like a dream. It lives up to all its claims.

WHO THIS WILL WORK FOR:
-Ladies of all skintones and all undertones
-Especially will work for ladies looking to hide those dark circles and imperfections
-If you are looking for something creamy and moisturising
-Ladies who won't mind the moisture rich formula

WHO THIS WON'T WORK FOR:
-Anyone who doesn't want an amazing concealer for an amazing price haha!

WHERE TO BUY:
So, I am from Canada and we do have some NYX products in Rexall and other grocery stores but I could not find these concealers. So I surveyed everywhere online and I stumbled upon an amazing eBay store and ended up placing a hugeee order! The store has NYX cosmetics and a lot of other brands not available in every country for amazing prices! The shipping was quick and the products were real and good quality.

Regularly, you can buy one for about $5-6 in stores or on other sites, but on the ebay store I found you can buy two for 8.20

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575022912&toolid=10001&campid=5337148503&customid=&icep_item=190655957386&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

Or 3 for 12.55
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575022912&toolid=10001&campid=5337148503&customid=&icep_item=281005370933&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

Or 6 for 21.84
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575022912&toolid=10001&campid=5337148503&customid=&icep_item=251201975663&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

The more you buy, the cheaper one becomes. I bought 5 and my friends and I split it. The seller ships to a lot of countries and does discounted shipping. I might do a haul of the other things I got so look out for that.
I thought it was an awesome deal and wanted to share with you guys :) (Btw, you can use a Canadian ebay account on ebay.com)

VERDICT:
I love this concealer! I use this almost everyday and I will even use it as a browbone highlight because it doesn't dry up and accentuate the fine hairs on your browbone like other concealers. This is amazing and I recommend all of you to buy this! You will love it I promise :) This is also supposed to be a dupe for MAC Studio Sculpt and I totally agree - it's actually better!

Natural Beauty: The best face mask - DIY Oat, Yogurt and Honey Mask

Hey guys! I'm a strong believer in home remedies, natural DIY beauty fixes and going organic. My Natural Beauty series will be me posting various DIY recipes I use in my beauty regimen. I have very clear skin and thick healthy hair and I owe it all to using natural products. If you don't believe it, you must try it.

Not only does it save money, you know exactly what your using on your skin, hair and body. Don't you ever read the ingredients on some of your bottles and see the strangest chemicals..and recognize probably only one ingredient haha?

Anyway, this is my go to face mask. Its kind of a 4-in-1 exfoliater, toner, cleanser and moisturiser. I'll explain the benefits at the end if you're interested :)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
-1 tablespoon yogurt
-1 tablespoon oats
-1/2 teaspoon honey

This will make a very generous amount, trust me :) What you want to do is mix the ingredients together and let it sit for a couple minutes. This will allow the oats to absorb some of the yogurt and sort of break down into gentle exfoliating beads rather then rough oats. Do not let it sit for too long or it will absorb too much.

Apply to your face, neck and anywhere else you desire. Gently work it in, do this over the sink because you will have some fall out. Now let it sink in for 10-15 minutes until it dries. I like to put my hair mask in at the same time and let them both sink in before I shower (hair mask recipe will be coming soon). In the shower just wash it off as you would any cleanser. You will notice your skin will be hydrated, soft and any breakouts will have minimized. I do this once a week or once every 2 weeks and I swear by this. Give it a try!

Why does this do wonders for your skin?
Yogurt - Yogurt is rich in vitamins and probiotics which has a lot of anti bacterial properties. It also brightens skin, tightens pores and has pH balancing toner properties. It is suitable for oily and dry skin.

Oats - Oats are known to soothe skin and reduce inflammation. Anyone with acne or redness will notice many benefits from the oats. The slight roughness will help exfoliate and get rid of dead skin cells. However, it is still rich in moisture so it will leave your skin hydrated.

Honey - Honey is extremely moisturising which is why we do not add too much to our mask, just the right amount. Honey has many anti-aging properties and is known to have a small amount of hydrogen peroxide content. This will brighten your skin as well as help heal and nourish the skin

The combo of these 3 will give your skin everything you need. Let me know how it goes :)

Quick & Easy Summer Greek Pasta Salad Recipe

Hey guys! I whipped up this salad for a picnic in less then a half hour. Is it authentic greek? Probably not! But, it tastes SO good and is perfect for lunch, school, work and summer days :) So lets get started!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
*I used what ever I had in my fridge feel free to add/change any ingredients. Also, I don't drink so I did not have wine in my dressing, but I do know this is common.

Servings: This made a large bowl, about 4-6 servings

-15 Cherry Tomatoes - I cut them into halfs
-2 1/2 cups pasta - I used rotini, penne would be fine as well
-1 bell paper - I used a yellow one
-1/2 jalapeƱo -I love my spice but you can totally use another bell pepper if you don't like a spicy kick
-1 red onion
-3/4 cup feta cheese crumbled - I used my favourite kind, Treselle Light (this is in Canadian grocery stores, not sure about American)

Dressing:
-1/2 cup olive oil
-2 tablespoon fresh lemon squeezed
-2 teaspoon garlic powder
-1.5 teaspoon oregano
-1.5 teaspoon italian spice
-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (Again, I love my spice haha)
-Salt & pepper to taste
-A pinch of sugar - this will take away from the acidity of the tomatoes. If you are using sweet cherry tomatoes then you don't have to use
*If you want a more creamier dressing, add a tablespoon of yogurt or mayo

1. Boil a pot of water, add a pinch of salt. Once boiled, add in pasta and cook per instructions. Should be 10-15 minutes

2. While the pasta is boiling, cut up your vegetables and crumble your feta cheese. Combine in a bowl

3. Make your dressing and add to the bowl
4. Once pasta has been boiled, drain the water and wash with cold water (prevents sticking). Let it cool, you don't want to add warm pasta into a cold pasta salad.
5. Combine pasta with veggies and dressing, mix and put it in the fridge

Your done! It's light, delicious and really quite easy. Bon appetite :)

Concealer Critic: Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller in Medium/Deep Review

Hey guys! So I'm going to be starting a new series where I review all the concealers I tried, good and bad. I don't own a massive amount of makeup, but majority of it is concealers.
Why? Because I have absolutely horrendous dark circles with fine lines and I'm a tan skin tone - making it even harder to find concealers that will cover up these bad boys. Basically, I've tried a lot of concealers out there and I want to help you pick the perfect one and save your money!

FOR REFERENCE:
I am a MAC NC 40 in the winter NC 42 in the Summer
Revlon Photo Ready in Toast
Maybelline 24 Hr Superstay In True Beige
Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Medium Beige
My undertone is yellow and my dark circles are a dark purple shade

Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller in Medium/Deep 0.50 fl oz:

SHADES: 2 shades available, Light and Medium/Deep

PRICE: $8-$14 (depends on country and sale)

THE GOOD:
-Nice packaging, slim bottle can fit in purse
-The applicator is a metal ball that has a cooling effect, this might help with puffiness
-The formula is very lightweight
-The finish is matte
-Light and natural looking

THE BAD:

Alright, when I first swatched this it seemed nice. It has a cooling effect and the consistency is very thin but pigmented.

As I let it sit for 10-15 seconds it begins to settle and turn into a terrible pink/gray color. I would not let this sit, I would blend in quickly or else it'll become a strange consistency. The consistency becomes kind of dry/dewy feeling that is not very blendable.

With flash

Yuck. This is how it looks when blended out - and this is why I absolutely hate this stuff and do not use it. It shows up pink/gray and literally makes my dark circles look even worse.

Without flash

If you are tan with a pink undertone, this concealer may work for you. I'm not sure - however, most tan ladies have a yellow undertone. Now, on to the next question..does it cover terrible dark circles?

So I did a swatch test. I swatched some brown/purple eyeliner lightly on my hand to see how well this covered. The middle picture was the first layer, I actually added a tad bit more and the last pic is about how much coverage I got. Not too bad for such a light weight concealer.

CLAIMS: 1- eye care with caffeine to hydrate and refresh; 2- tinted mineral pigments to instantly cover dark circles. The combination in a cooling roll-on applicator works wonders! It’s ideal for a gentle, hygienic application in the sensitive eye area and the non-messy roll-on applicator is convenient for use on-the-go

-->Hydrate and refresh? I guess the cooling effect might help the puffiness in the morning. I'm not sure about the instantly covering dark circles claim. It is gentle but if you let it dry for 10 seconds, you will have a hard time blending this out. The applicator is not too messy, but if you can see in the first picture at the top of this post, the cap and applicator is quite dirty and I never use this.

WHO THIS WILL WORK FOR:
-I'd say ladies with PINK undertones only.
-The light shade would probably work until NC 20-25. The medium/deep shade would probably work up until NC 35 and maybe NC40 if your not too tanned and you have a pink undertone.
-Someone with moderate to no darkness under there eyes. If you just have slight puffiness and darkness this would work
-Normal to Combination skin

WHO THIS WON'T WORK FOR:
-Yellow undertoned ladies this is a big NO NO
-NC 42 and beyond
-Someone with bad to severe darkness under their eyes
-Ladies who prefer thick, hydrating concealers
-Someone with dry skin and fine lines under their eyes

WHERE TO BUY:
If this is something that you think will work for you, you can get this at most drugstores. If your in Canada this is pretty expensive, I've seen it for $15 regular price some places. Put in $3 and you can get a MAC concealer lol. I got it for about $10 on sale. If your in the USA, you can probably find this for cheaper.
But an alternative if you don't want to hunt a sale is getting it online:

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=9&pub=5575022912&toolid=10001&campid=5337148503&customid=&icep_uq=Garnier+Skin+Renew+Anti-Dark-Circle+eye+Roller&icep_sellerId=&icep_ex_kw=&icep_sortBy=12&icep_catId=&icep_minPrice=&icep_maxPrice=&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

VERDICT:
I really don't care for it as I've explained above. It was really hyped on Youtube so I bought it. I will not repurchase. I really don't know what to do with it sitting around.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my in depth review. I'll review another concealer soon. Comment below if you have any questions/requests or contact me at missbeyondbeauty1@gmail.com :)

DIY 3-in-1 Headband, Bracelet or Belt in less then 10 minutes!

So I found this ugly old belt form back in the day and decided I'd do an easy, quick and simple DIY that can really be multi purpose. I know this is pretty simple but it might help inspire you to turn some of your old accessories into something new and trendy :)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
-An old belt/accessory with suede cording OR you can use regular suede cording from a craft store
-Scissors
-Needle and Thread --> You can use a glue gun instead if that's quicker for you

1. Take apart your old accessory or if your using new cording, measure out the appropriate length for what your making. I'm making a bracelet so I wrapped it twice around my arm and cut there

2. Cut 3 identical pieces

4. Attach the pieces to a clip board or a clip and braid girl, braid!

5. Once your at your desired length,  sow the ends together. This is really quick for me but if you want to use a glue gun or even a tiny elastic in a rush - feel free to :)

6. Your done! Now you can use this as a headband, a bracelet, even a revamped belt. If you have extra time you can add beads etc.

Give it a try if you want an easy diy :)

How To Fix Cracked Blush, Eyeshadow, Powder Etc.

So I recently purchased an Annabelle bonus product from Shoppers Drug Mart (I believe Annabelle is only availabe in Canada and some European countries as well as online). It was a gel eyeliner and it came with a bonus eyeshadow trio called Savanna Sun. It cracked :( So I decided I'd fix it and turn it into a blush/eyeshadow. It turned out amazing :) Heres what you will need:

-Paper towels
-A spoon, back of a makeup brush, or anything you can crush the broken eyeshadow with
-Rubbing Alcohol from the dollar store or drugstore

1. Place several paper towels or newspapers and then place your broken eyeshadow/blush etc. You do not want loose pigment on your counters or desk

2. Take the back of a plastic spoon, back of a makeup brush, or anything you can crush the pigment with. I used a plastic spoon and I began crushing the broken pieces until everything is powdered down

3. Add 2-4 drops of alcohol - you can use an eyedropper, I just used my spoon. It's okay if you get extra, it will jus take longer to dry. You want to add enough until it is a thick liquid consistency.

4. If you have some over flow just take some product out and throw it out or you can put it into an empty eyeshadow if you don't want to waste it.

5. Leave the lid open, place it somewhere safe and let this bad boy dry. Mine took a day to completely dry and solidify.

Simple as that :) I'm super happy with the bronzey/golden blush bronzer I have.

JULY FAVORITES 2012 - ALL DRUGSTORE

July Favorites :)
Yes..I am aware I am a little late, but better now then never haha. So these are products I have been enjoying this month. I'll be posting a favorites each month, with atleast one item pertaining to eyes, lips, face, hair, skin etc. :) So lets get into it!

FOR REFERENCE:
I am a MAC NC 40 in the winter NC 42 in the Summer
Revlon Photo Ready in Toast
Maybelline 24 Hr Superstay In True Beige
Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Medium Beige

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 15 12 fl oz

KEY INGREDIENTS:Oatmeal (skin soother); avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, and oxybenzone (sunscreens)

PRICE: $6-$12

REVIEW: I use the same Aveeno but without the SPF during the winter but once summer rolls around I use this. Its moisturising, comes with alot of product, protects my skin and doesnt smell too bad. I generally don't love any lotion with SPF because it'll always be slightly greasier and thicker. However, after reading this article I've been wearing it more  - http://now.msn.com/you-will-surely-want-sunscreen-after-seeing-this-mans-face?_p=382d8d0e-88ad-49a5-a5ad-6c691d011e1b. Girl, use that sunscreen! Just a warning though, I have very dry skin so I can deal with the thickness of this - if you have oily skin this might be too greasy for you.

Organix Anti-Breakage Serum with Nourishing Coconut Milk 4 fl oz

KEY INGREDIENTS:
Silk Amino Complex, Shea Butter, Coconut Milk, Coconut Oil, Egg White Protein, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) (Vitamin E), Fragrance

PRICE:$6-$9

REVIEW:
I've been using this for quite sometime now, almost a year and its about 3/4 through as you can see in the picture above. When I get out of the shower and my hair is about half way dry I will rub about a quarter size into my ends and then comb through with a wide tooth comb to spread it. This is extremely potent and thick so I would not recommend putting this near your roots. If you use heat on your hair after using this it will be very soft, silky and hydrated. I don't know if this really cures split ends, it might just help hydrate it which will disguise them. But this is really good stuff, I love how this makes my hair soft and manageable.

Victoria's Secret Sexy Little Things Noir Tease Scented Body Mist 2.5 Fl Oz

SCENT: Warm blend of black vanilla, frozen pear and blooming gardenia.

PRICE: The full size 8.4 fl  oz bottle is $25, the small size I have was around $10-15

REVIEW:
I bought this about a year ago and this small size is still lasting me. I love how unique this smells and I've got a lot of compliments on this. Its definitely not a fruity or sweet scent, its more.. deep..? I don't know..it smells really good haha. It's not too pricey and the scent does linger, I would definitely recommend this if your looking for a reasonably priced long lasting body spray.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara in Blackest Black 0.38 Oz

PRICE: $7-$12   **I got two of these with an eye-liner in a value pack at Shoppers Drug Mart (Canadian store) for about $6 - they might still have some in the clearance section check it out if you live in Canada :)

REVIEW:
This is my go-to mascara, I always end up coming back to this. I've even tried some high-end mascaras and various raved mascaras but this is definitely my absolute favourite. I don't have the waterproof kind but it stays on all day without flaking and gives me really natural looking defined lashes. I have really stick straight lashes, not too long or thick and I don't like to wear false lashes or heavy mascara on a regular basis. This is perfect because it still gives me volume and some length and just makes my lashes look better. I like how this doesn't make my lashes crunchy and brittle feeling, its a nice smooth texture. If you have long curly lashes, this mascara will probably do wonders for you! Try it out and bat those lashes girl ;)

Jordana Color Effects Powder Eyeshadow Single in Number 15 Bronzeville 0.058 oz

 PRICE: $1.99

REVIEW:
I picked this up at a local dollar store and I've been loving it for the summer. Its the perfect shimmery bronzey shade. I love using just this shade on my eyes with a little mascara and eyeliner - looks so pretty. Its super cheap and comes with a lot of product. It has good pay off and you cant go wrong with this colour and price. This would look really
good on all skin tones, but it looks especially nice on tan/olive skin tones like mine. I'm a Mac NC40-42 for reference. In Canada check out local dollar stores for Jordana Cosmetics. I believe its the same in the USA :)

NYX Concealer in a Jar in 04 Beige 0.25 oz

I blended in some next to the swatch
COVERAGE- Medium to full

PRICE- $5-$7

REVIEW:
I have clear skin but really dark under eye circles, I use this to help brighten my under eye area. This is probably the most moisturising and creamy concealer I have ever used and a little goes a long way. This is supposed to be a dupe for the MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer - my sister has this and it actually is a good dupe, much cheaper though! This is very rich and creamy so you definitely need to set this to prevent creasing. I use this in conjunction with a few other products to completely conceal my under eyes - I have done a complete blog post on how I cover my dark under eyes with this concealer and the same shade in Orange: click here to check it out Anyway, there is a really good colour selection for these. We don't have NYX in Canada so I did order these online. I also like using this as a highlighter on my cheek bone or brow bone, its so easy to blend this out so check this out ladies.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush Heather Silk 0.14 oz
COLOUR: A beautiful matte pink/berry shade

PRICE: $3-$6 (Way cheaper in USA, usually $5 in Canada)

REVIEW:
This is my favourite blush ever probably. Amazing pigmentation. No really, its insanely pigmented. I barely tapped any product in the swatch and that's how much pay off I got. This is a dupe for MAC Dollymix Blush. I actually like this better then MAC blushes or any other blush I have tried. It's so hard finding pigmented matte blushes, so this is a keeper. It would look good on all skin tones and it's super blendable and long lasting. I've had this for about a year and I use it almost every day and still haven't hit pan. Go buy this. Now!

New York Color ( NYC ) Smooch Proof 16 Hr Lip Stain in Forever Fuschia 0.1 Fl oz

COLOUR: Girl..this is not fuschia! Trust me! It is pink/red colour that is close to my natural lip colour.

PRICE: $4-$6 ** I bought mine at Rexall on sale for about $2, it comes on sale a lot

REVIEW:
I love this. I literally wear this pretty much everyday. I put lip balm on, let it sink in and then I will apply this, let it sink in and then apply another layer of lip balm. The reason I apply so much lip balm is because lip stains will seep into the cracks of your lips and dry up into a really ugly mess if you don't moisturise your lips. Its a nicer version of my natural lip colour and is perfect for everyday - it has no shimmer and looks really natural and fresh. I've had this for about a year and as I said I use it like everyday and it still hasn't run out on me. However, I probably will repurchase soon and maybe try new shades. Now for the bad...its not smooch proof or 16 hour wear. If you load this up maybe it will last through your smooches and food... but it will seep into cracks and look pretty gross so I wouldn't do that. If your not eating much or smooching, it will last you 4-5 hours until you need to re apply. I really don't mind this though, the price is amazing and if I don't reapply all day, at the end of the night there still is a tinge of colour so its not terrible. I carry this in my purse and if I'm really rushed I will even  use this on my cheeks! Overall, I love this its awesome :)
